Why Is My Meesho Payment Less Than Expected?
Published
You shipped a good number of orders, then the Meesho payment arrives and it's smaller than you worked out. In most cases nothing is "missing". The money has gone to returns, charges or deductions that are shown in different parts of Meesho's payment file. Here are the seven most common reasons and where to find each one.
1. Customer returns reverse the sale and add a return charge
- When a buyer returns a delivered order, Meesho takes the sale amount back.
- Meesho also charges return shipping on customer returns.
- Both show as separate rows for the same sub-order, often in a later payment.
2. RTO orders are reversed too
- If the courier brings a parcel back undelivered (RTO), the sale is reversed.
- On Meesho, RTO doesn't carry a return shipping charge, unlike a customer return. See our guide RTO vs Customer Return.
3. Ads are deducted from your payment
- If you run Meesho ads, the ad cost is taken from your payments.
- It appears on its own sheet (Ads Cost) in the payment file, not next to each order, so it's easy to miss.
4. TCS and TDS are deducted
- Meesho deducts TCS (0.5%) and TDS (0.1%) as the law requires.
- This is not lost money. You can claim TCS against your GST and TDS against your income tax. Ask your CA to match them with your GST and tax filings.
5. Recoveries and penalties
- Meesho can recover money for things like claims settled against you or other adjustments.
- These appear on the Compensation and Recovery sheet. Compensation paid to you shows there too.
6. The order hasn't been paid yet
- Not every order is paid in the same cycle. Some delivered orders are still waiting.
- The Outstanding Payments file lists orders that aren't paid yet. Check it before assuming an order was missed.
7. Cancelled orders are never paid
- Orders cancelled before dispatch have no payment at all.
- The payment file lists only orders with a payment, so cancelled orders don't appear there. The orders file from Manage Orders shows them.
How to check your own payment, step by step
- Download Payments to Date and Outstanding Payments from the Supplier Panel. See How to Download the Meesho Payment Report.
- Download your orders file for the same month. See How to Download the Meesho Orders Report.
- For each sub-order, add up all its payment rows: the sale, any return or RTO reversal, and return charges.
- Check the Ads Cost and Compensation and Recovery sheets for deductions that aren't tied to one order.
- Match delivered orders against payments. Anything delivered, not returned and not in Outstanding Payments is worth a support ticket.
What to do next
- Doing this by hand takes hours for a few hundred orders. Reconciliation in Ecommerce Tools reads Meesho's files exactly as downloaded and shows, order by order, what was paid, what was deducted and which delivered orders were paid less than expected.
- The files are read in your browser and never uploaded. Only the results are saved to your account.
Questions
Why does one sub-order have several rows?
A sale, a later return and small charges are paid as separate rows, sometimes in different payment cycles. Add them up per sub-order.
Can I get TCS and TDS back?
You can claim TCS against your GST liability and TDS against your income tax. Your CA can confirm the amounts.
Does Meesho charge commission?
Meesho states it charges 0% commission. Check Meesho's current rate card, as charges can change.
What should I do if a delivered order was never paid?
Check Outstanding Payments first. If it isn't there either, raise a ticket in the Supplier Panel with the sub-order ID.
