4×6 Thermal Printer Settings for Amazon, Flipkart and Meesho Labels
Updated
What it is
- A 4×6 thermal printer prints shipping labels on heat-sensitive sticker labels. It needs no ink or toner.
- Most printing problems (labels printing across two stickers, blank labels in between, a faded barcode, a label printed too small) come from four settings: paper size, calibration, scaling and darkness.
- This guide sets them once, so every Amazon, Flipkart and Meesho label prints correctly.
Before you start
- Labels: 4×6 inch direct thermal labels (often sold as 100 × 150 mm). Use labels with a gap between each sticker.
- The printer driver from your printer maker's website. The generic driver Windows installs on its own often has the wrong paper sizes.
Steps
- Load the labels. Feed the roll or fan-fold stack so the shiny printable side faces the print head. Close the cover firmly.
- Install the maker's driver. Download it from the printer maker's website for your model, install it, and restart the computer.
- Set the paper size. On Windows, open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners, choose your printer, then Printing preferences. Set the paper or stock size to 4 × 6 in (or 100 × 150 mm if that is what your labels say). If the size isn't listed, add a new size with these numbers. Set orientation to Portrait.
- Set the media type to labels with gaps. In the same preferences window, look for Media type, Stock or Sensor and choose Labels with gaps (sometimes called gap or die-cut). Don't choose continuous paper.
- Calibrate the printer. Calibration teaches the printer where each label starts. Most printers have a calibrate button in the driver, or calibrate when you hold the feed button. Check your printer's manual for the exact way. Do this again every time you change the label brand or size.
- Set darkness and speed. Start in the middle. If the barcode looks faint or broken, increase darkness one step. If the print looks blurred, reduce the speed.
- Print the label PDF at actual size. Open the 4×6 label PDF, press Ctrl+P, choose the thermal printer, set paper size to 4×6 (or 100 × 150 mm), set Scale to 100% or Actual size, and set Margins to None if your browser shows that option. Don't use "Fit to page" on a PDF that is already 4×6.
- Test before a full batch. Print one label and scan its barcode with your phone camera. If it scans, print the rest.
Tips
- Keep thermal labels away from heat and sunlight. Direct thermal print fades with heat and light, so store the roll in a cool, dark place and don't leave packed parcels in the sun.
- Save the settings as the printer default. Then you don't have to set them again for each batch.
- Use one label size for all platforms. Amazon, Flipkart and Meesho labels can all print on 4×6 once each label PDF is cropped to that size.
Common problems and fixes
- One label prints across two stickers: the printer isn't calibrated, or the paper size doesn't match the labels. Repeat steps 3 and 5.
- A blank sticker comes out between labels: calibrate again (step 5) and check the media type is "labels with gaps".
- The label prints small in one corner: the PDF is A4 or the scale isn't 100%. Use a 4×6 label PDF and print at actual size.
- Part of the label is cut off: the paper size is set to A4 or Letter. Set it to 4×6 in the driver and in the print window.
- The barcode won't scan: increase darkness, reduce speed, and clean the print head with an isopropyl alcohol wipe (printer switched off and cool).
- Nothing prints, but labels feed: the labels may be loaded upside down. The printable side must face the print head.
How Ecommerce Tools helps
- Marketplace label files are often A4 pages with the label and invoice together. Label Cropper turns Amazon, Flipkart and Meesho label PDFs into 4×6 labels ready for a thermal printer, sorted by courier, SKU or ship date, with SKU and quantity on each label and a picklist.
- Your label PDFs are cropped in your browser and never uploaded.

Questions
Is 100 × 150 mm the same as 4×6?
Almost. 4×6 inch is about 102 × 152 mm. Labels sold as 100 × 150 mm are made for 4×6 shipping labels. Set the paper size to match the labels you bought.
Do thermal printers need ink?
No. Direct thermal printers use heat-sensitive labels, so there is no ink, toner or ribbon.
Why do I need to calibrate again?
Different label brands have slightly different gaps and sizes. Calibrate whenever you change labels.
Can I print A4 labels on a thermal printer?
Not well. Crop the A4 label file to 4×6 first, then print at actual size.
